Homemade Tomato Sauce

This tomato sauce is so good, old family recipe. I usually make a large batch then jar it and freeze it. I take jars out as I need it.

You will need:

2 chopped onions *(I used 1 cup of green onions and 2 teaspoons of onion powder as I cannot have onions

2 teaspoons of garlic powder

2 teaspoons of oregano (fresh and better but can be dried)

2 teaspoons of basil (basil- fresh and better but can be dried)

3 or 4 bay leaves

2 cans of tomato crushed (I used the Unico brand as its Gluten free)

2 cans of whole tomato (I used the Unico brand as its Gluten free)

1 spoon or two of vegetable oil

1 can of water

In a large pot bring heat the oil, put the onion, garlic, half of the oregano, half of the basil and two bay leaves to brown.

Then add the two can off crushed tomato and use a can full of water and put it in the pan as well and mix everything. Put the two cans of whole tomato through the food mill, when the tomato is done put the rest of the oregano, basil, bay leaf and blend everything.

Stir every now and then, let it cook for about 2 hours. About when it is half the amount.

When it is ready it should cover the wooden spoon without totally drip off.

The sauce can be put in mason jars and frozen for 6 months or kept in the fridge for a week.
